We were asked to rebuild Tiagos’ House, in São Jorge Island. Its remains could, though, show 3 volumes: the main house, a store house for rural activities and a small chapel. We tried to restore its old image and also give a new use for the community.
A new volume where formerly was the store house, creates small patios. The main volume houses a gallery, a small conference room, as well as the entrance lobby.
The new volume, thought seen as formally contemporary, the entire project is a result of harmony between the old and the new.
The new one, with large glass wall to improve its interface with the patios, houses the social rooms as a nursery room, a medical assistance room, a meeting room, a waiting room, and administration rooms.
At the end Tiago's House is a result of emphasizing its past rather than explore new formal aesthetics.
