We were asked to design eight bungalows over an oneiric Furnas landscape, in São Miguel Island. Our proposal aims to meet the traditional and vernacular architecture with a new contemporary design, without dismissing its surroundings. Actually, the bungalows fits into the landscape, improving their potential, thus creating a large belvedere. The program for each bungalow is simple: a living room, a kitchenette, one or two bedroom, a bathroom and a terrace. The reflecting pool acquire a substantial value.
Thought there were already the client’s weekend house, the challenge of this project was to build a territory in which the physical landmark is no longer a backdrop to become an active part of its own construction, identifying those key elements of the landscape to emerge through a system of relations that go beyond the visual area of the building.
